TRANSFER NEWS : Chelsea Agrees to Sign The Key Target As Lampard Closes At £140 Million Triple Swoop

According to “The Guardian” , Chelsea has agreed to sign a £90m deal to Kai Havertz after successful talks with Bayer Leverkusen as Frank Lampard concludes on three new signatures.

The Blues chased Havertz all summer after Lampard identified the German international as a key transfer target as he is looking to build a squad that can challenge Liverpool and Man City for next season’s title.

“The Guardian”  reports that Chelsea had an opening bid worth £58.6m plus £13.55m in add-ons rejected last week by Bayer Leverkusen but were caught up in negotiations with the Bundesliga outfit seeking to thrash out a contract.

The newspaper says Chelsea has returned with a fresh bid worth £72m [€80m] up front with an additional £18m [€20m] coming in add-ons suggesting the whole package will be worth £90m if the bonuses were met.

“The Guardian”  journalist Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter late this afternoon to announce that the deal has now been reached between the two clubs and that Havertz will sign a five-year extension with Chelsea following negotiations with Lampard.

Romano states that Chelsea and Bayern Leverkusen are already going on the paper work before an announcement is made and it looks as if this deal will soon be confirmed.

Kai Havertz would be a coup for Chelsea as he emerged as one of the most promising young talents in world football with the 21-year-old attacking midfielder producing 45 goals and 31 assists in his 148 Leverkusen appearances.

After conceding 54 goals last season, Chelsea is still looking to improve their defense, and “The Guardian” says they are optimistic that they will sign Thiago Silva on a free transfer after he left Paris Saint-Germain after his contract expired.

According to the newspaper, Chelsea offered the 35-year-old Brazilian international a one-year deal with another year’s option to extend and Silva is being tipped later this week to move to Stamford Bridge.

Lampard is still on the lookout for a new left-back as questions linger about Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmeiri  who are supposed to return to Italy and “The Guardian”  reports that Chelsea is closing in on a £50m contract for Ben Chilwell.

The article says Ben Chilwell, the Leicester City player had medical tests to determine a heel injury and Chilwell is expected to secure a move to Stamford Bridge this summer so long as there are no complications.

This means Chelsea is closing in on a triple raid that will set them back £140m with Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell joining Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner as Lampard tries to rebuild his squad as he heads west London.
