Malang Sarr, the 21-year-old, who left French side football club OGC Nice after his contract expired this summer, has signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have announced that Sarr will spend the season 2020/21 on loans to “provide the opportunity to acquire valuable playing time and add to his experience so that he is ready to join the squad.”
Sarr arrives in France with plenty of experience, featuring for OGC Nice more than 100 times and winning the “young player of the year” Award.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said in a statement: The chance to sign Malang was one that we couldn’t ignore. He’s a tremendous prospect and we’ll be closely tracking him during his loan time, hoping he’ll be back in Chelsea soon
Today we are very pleased to welcome him into the club. Chelsea had already brought in Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Xavier Mbuyamba in the transfer window.
Sarr, who has represented France U16 to U21 level, plays for OGC Nice mostly as a center-back but also sometimes features at left-back.
