The amazing starman spent averagely 5 years with the Catalans, FC Barcelona. However over this period of time, the player appears to have lost his touch and as such fell down the pecking order making it difficult to secure regular playtime.
Coutinho, fired on all cylinders in his premier league presence over 5 years with Liverpool before deciding to further his career with a move to Spain, which haven’t worked out as planned. As such he enjoyed loan spells at other club to rekindle his fire.
The 29-year-old spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Bayern Munich before returning to the Premier League, where he previously played for Liverpool.
Aston Villa and FC Barcelona have accepted terms for Philippe Coutinho to spend the remainder of the season on loan at Villa Park, according to a statement released by the club.
“The agreement includes an option to buy, and Philippe will come to Birmingham in the next 48 hours, subject to the player completing a medical and securing a work permit.”
“RECONNECTING WITH STEVEN GERRARD”
It’s believe that the decision to join Aston Villa was quite an easy one which was influenced by the desire for the player to reunite with Gerrard, a fellow player with whom Coutinho played alongside for two years before Gerrard became a coach.
Coutinho would reconnect with Steven Gerrard, whom he spent two years at Anfield. He believes based on their history, Gerard will be capable enough to utilize his skills and capabilities to achieve the club’s goals.
“I can understand why he’s linked to a lot of football clubs,” Aston Villa coach Gerrard said on Thursday. “Sixty-three caps for Brazil, a serial winner, was incredible at Liverpool, so I can understand why he’s linked to a lot of football clubs.”
“I see why so many of his followers around the country are talking about him. I don’t believe you acquire the term “magician” unless you’re an exceptional footballer, thus he’s someone I hold in high regard.”
“However, I don’t want to add to the conjecture because he is a Barcelona player.”
“ASTON VILLA WON THE BATTLE, WILL THEY WIN THE WAR?”
Two English clubs are said to have made bids for the midfielder, but it is the Birmingham-based club that has won out.
Coutinho is thought to be eager to establish himself as a regular first-team player after appearing in just five of Barcelona’s 26 games this season.
With the 2022 World Cup in Qatar looming, he’ll be eager to impress and earn a place in Tite’s team, given his last international appearance for Brazil was in October 2020.
The former Inter midfielder is believed to have been pleased by the Villains’ drive, which was evident after the departure of Jack Grealish this summer.
Villa have recovered from a terrible start to the season under Gerrard’s leadership and are now thirteenth in the table.
Will Coutinho returns to his glory days as he left ? Will he rediscover his form at Villa Park? Can he serve as the boost Aston Villa needs to improve their performance and position on the table? And is this the right step for Coutinho or is it yet another mistake?
